So what have Pint Shot Riot been up to recently?? Well, we’ve been busy preparing for our next single release for one! We’ve got the track sounding totally perfect now at last, having been mixed by Barny Barnicott (Arctic Monkeys, Kasabian, Temper Trap) and matched with a stunning set of ‘4 to the floor’ remixes by the legendary dance producer Redanka! These things always take a little tweaking and adjusting, and now we think it’s just about ready to get out there and blow people’s minds!
Hello and welcome once again to PSR’s blog! It’s been an interesting start to the year and we’ve been busy as usual. We’ve spent most of January and February in our Coventry bunker writing new material for the new year and it has been interesting to try some new ideas. We’re looking forward to getting out on the road and testing it out live soon.
It’s been a pretty cool month for PSR and we’re looking forward to finishing the year on a high and getting ready to attack 2010!
We’ve been back to playing live this month with some dates around London, Brighton and Birmingham. Brighton was absolutely freezing when we got there, but being Midlanders, we just had to see the sea! All was going well, the waves were crashing in the size of houses and our photographer was with us so he set up the shot, us with the waves behind, unfortunately, he was too busy looking through his lens to notice a particularly huge wave approaching and he had to spend the whole night soaking wet! Unlucky, but most amusing! The gig was awesome and all was well in the end though.
We’ve been taking a break from playing live so we could concentrate on some song writing and playing more FIFA 10 of course!! Loads and loads of people keep coming up to us saying they’ve heard ‘NOT THINKING STRAIGHT‘ on the game which is awesome and it’s our best selling track by miles!
It’s also on NEED FOR SPEED NITRO which I think is coming out now so we’re looking forward to that as well!
It’s been a pretty interesting month for us, allow me to fill you in. We released ‘Come Back To Me’ and ‘Not Thinking Straight’ to pretty favourable reviews and we were played on BBC Radio One which was a very positive thing for us. We’ve also been picking up plays on independent radio stations all over the country so all in all it was a success!!
The biggest thing to happen this month though was when FIFA 10 was released, which was a pretty amazing thing! Now I’ve actually got my hands on the game and heard ‘Not Thinking Straight’ in the context of the game, I have to say I was pretty blown away! All of our friends have been saying the same thing, that it feels really strange and almost surreal to see our name pop up and hear our track in the middle of a game of FIFA! It has to be said, the game itself is brilliant to play and a huge improvement on last year!!
We’re taking a break from playing live for a few weeks as we’re currently holed up in our rehearsal studio working on some new stuff, which is sounding pretty good, so it should be another good month!
All for now, peace.
It’s been as usual, a pretty busy month for us but a fruitful one!
Preparations have been going well for 5th October which sees us release two singles ‘Not Thinking Straight’ and ‘Come Back To Me’ with lots of B-sides. We’ve managed to secure several plays on Zane Lowe’s BBC Radio 1 show and been played regularly on NME’s T.V channel plus received lots more national radio and press coverage, so we’re looking forward to seeing how it all goes! By the time you read this you should be able to download it from iTunes etc. so feel free to get involved!
It’s been another busy month here in Coventry. One particularly awesome gig we did was when our local youth council invited us to play their half term gig held in the grounds of Coventry’s old Cathedral which was mostly destroyed during WW2. To stand and play surrounded by such a huge part of our hometown’s history felt amazing and very humbling and was definitely one to remember.
Our main task this month was to prepare for the release of our next single ‘Come Back To Me‘, which is tentatively scheduled for release at the end of next month. We had an absolute blast recording the video which features a local beautiful actress! The first cuts are looking as good as we hoped so we are really looking forward to getting it out there for you all to see! We have also come into contact with a very talented designer/artist who is currently producing some concepts for the artwork which have been exiting us all so we steam into next month locked, loaded and ready to go!! Till next time, peace, love, music……….
It’s been a fairly busy month for PSR, we’ve been rehearsing and writing a lot in our bunker but we have had time to do some local shows. First, we played a nice acoustic set at the ‘Warehouse’ in Coventry. This was a fashion show organised for the `Snowball Kids Charity‘ and we were invited to add a little music to the occasion. We actually ended up playing with all 4 of us squeezed onto 1 sofa surrounded by Cov’s finest fashionistas! It was an excellent vibe, and a real honour to be part of such a unique event in our home town.
Next, we played a blinding gig at ‘The Kasbah‘ again in Coventry with the awesome ‘Cage The Elephant‘. We had an absolute blast as always playing our favourite venue in our home town, plenty of beautiful people hanging over the barrier and moshing the hell out of each other. The crowd were ravenous for the American visitors and they certainly didn’t disappoint. They whipped up a fantastic vibe and ‘Ain’t No Rest For The Wicked’ was a particular highlight. We had a chat with the boys before the gig and it was awesome to swap musical ideologies with them and discuss what it’s like to live in Nashville Tennessee! We’re definitely going there one day!
